History of Tahoe Trolling Company

Tahoe Trolling Company was originally known as Al Wilson Tackle Company. Bought in early 2019 the name was changed to Tahoe Trolling Company while still keeping the authentic Genuine Al Wilson product name. Al Wilson was a fisherman born in Massachusetts, moving out west to California following the Civil War. His invention of the trolling spoon earned himself an Award of Merit from the fisherman of California. Many believed he was the inventor of the "spoon" fishing lure, even though it was not patented until April of 1902.

Since 1870, many famous fishermen have proven the genuine Al Wilson trolling spoons to be highly successful for all types of fresh and saltwater game fish. As revealed in old records, this spoon was truly an international fame. Al Wilson frequently sponsored and donated prizes to Washington, Oregon, and California fishing derbies.

In the early 1900s, the original two-story manufacturing complex on Folsom Street in San Fransisco produced trolling spoons, spinners, and other tackle. Today, using the original dyes and shaper heads, the genuine Al Wilson two-bladed troll is the only item still manufactured and available. It is as highly effective now as it was when the first blades were tested and distributed. The design of the trolling rig has been kept alive from Al Wilson's time through five owners to the present.
